Filevine Pricing: Filevine Cost Per User, and What Filevine Costs Once the Add-Ons Land
Filevine does not publish a number. Its pricing page lists four packages and a stack of extensions, then sends you to a demo. So the useful thing is not a guessed dollar figure, it is knowing exactly which line items will appear on your quote and what the platforms that do publish rates charge for the same seat.
Build your line item list on the right, then take the published benchmark into the sales call.

Filevine publishes no rate, so there is no Filevine figure here. These are the list prices competing US platforms print on their own pricing pages, read 8 September 2026.
Comparing quotes across four vendors and want the matter work to run itself once you pick one? Caseagent drafts, calendars and tracks the file inside the case.
Rates shown are each vendor's own published list price and change without notice. Nothing here is a Filevine quote or an offer from Filevine.
Filevine pricing is quote only
Filevine publishes no price. Its pricing page carries no dollar figure at all: the heading says that all packages are custom built for your team's needs, and the pricing FAQ says each organization is unique and the sales team will tailor a plan. What the page does give you, and what is genuinely useful, is the complete list of things that get priced separately.
There are four packages, Matters, Intake, Depositions and Signatures, plus five extensions sitting on top of Matters alone, plus LOIS, the AI layer Filevine now brands as its Legal Operating Intelligence System. A firm that says yes to intake, depositions and analytics is not buying one product at one rate, it is assembling a bill out of nine or ten line items. That is why two similar firms end up paying very different amounts, and why the number you should walk into the call with is somebody else's published rate.

What Filevine's own pricing page says, word for word
It is worth quoting rather than paraphrasing, because the absence of a number is the whole story. Under the heading "Filevine Pricing" the page reads: "All packages are custom built for your team's needs. Here are some ideas to get you started." Every button on the page is "Book a Demo" or "Get a Demo". There is no checkout, no seat slider and no starting-at figure.
The pricing FAQ
"Each organization is unique"
Asked how Filevine pricing works, the page answers that the team will work closely with you to tailor a cost-effective and scalable plan. That is a sales process, not a rate card, and it means your leverage comes from what you bring to the call.
Onboarding
Certified Implementation Partners
Filevine says an ecosystem of Certified Implementation Partners gets firms up and running and customizes the platform to their workflows. Third party implementation is normally scoped and billed on its own, so ask for that statement of work alongside the software quote.
Hosting
AWS, with a security program
The page states Filevine is hosted on AWS and points to its compliance, privacy and security programs. Useful for a security questionnaire, but it does not affect what you pay, so do not let it substitute for a line item breakdown.
None of this makes Filevine expensive or cheap. Quote based selling is the norm at the top of this market: of the seven US personal injury and litigation platforms checked on their own pricing pages for this page, three publish nothing at all. It does mean that a search for "filevine pricing" cannot be answered with a figure, and anyone giving you one without naming a source is guessing.
Filevine's published product map
Every package and extension that becomes a line item
This is the structure Filevine itself lays out under "Select a Package". Knowing it before the demo is the difference between comparing quotes and being surprised by one, because a renewal that adds Periscope and the client portal is not the price you signed for.
| Package | What is inside it | Why it matters on the quote |
|---|---|---|
| Matters base package |
Matter management (tasks, contacts, deadlines, calendars), document management, document assembly, and payments with time tracking and invoicing. | This is the part most firms mean when they say "case management". Everything below is additional. |
| Periscope Matters extension |
Business analytics for firm performance and insight. | Reporting is bundled into the mid tier at CasePeer and MyCase. Here it is a separate ask. |
| Timely Matters extension |
Automatic court deadline generation, described as covering any jurisdiction in the country. | Rules based docketing is normally its own product and its own budget line. Price it as one. |
| Client Portal Matters extension |
Secure communication with clients and vendors. | CasePeer includes a client portal in its entry Basic tier, so this is a fair thing to push back on. |
| DataBridge Matters extension |
Secure, real-time access to your Filevine data. | Getting at your own data programmatically is priced. Ask what export looks like without it. |
| Intake separate package |
Lead Docket, Lead Docket Automation and Leads AI: capture, qualification, routing, referral fee tracking and lead summarization. | For a plaintiff firm running paid acquisition this is not optional, so budget it as part of the platform. |
| Depositions separate package |
Scheduling and hosting, Depo Copilot live transcription, Depo Library and AI deposition summaries. | Filevine also publishes a separate subscription pricing article for Depositions, which tells you it bills on its own terms. |
| Signatures separate package |
Vinesign eSignatures with texting, emailing, document templates and payments. | CasePeer also treats eSignature as an add-on on all three tiers, so this one is normal for the category. |
| LOIS AI layer |
LOIS for Word, Ask LOIS, AI Drafting, Depo Copilot, Depo Summaries, Depo Library and MedChron. | The AI is branded and sold as its own layer. Ask explicitly whether it is included in your seat rate or metered. |
Count the rows that apply to you before the demo. A plaintiff firm that wants matter management, intake, deadline automation and a client portal is negotiating four line items, not one price. If you also want rules based calendaring specifically, our breakdown of what legal calendaring and docketing software costs as a standalone purchase gives you a second benchmark for the Timely line.
Each vendor's own pricing page, 8 September 2026
What the platforms that do publish rates charge
You cannot compare Filevine to a number Filevine will not give you. You can walk in with the list prices its competitors print in public. Every figure below was read off the vendor's own pricing page on 8 September 2026, not from a directory or a review site.
| Platform | Publishes a rate card | Per user per month | Notes from the page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filevine | No | Not published | "All packages are custom built for your team's needs." Four packages plus extensions plus the LOIS AI layer. |
| CasePeer | Yes | $79 / $119 / $149 | Basic, Pro, Advanced. Built specifically for personal injury. Client portal and unlimited storage in Basic; legal AI and 50+ reports in Pro; API access in Advanced. eSignature is an add-on on all three. |
| Assembly Neos | Starting price only | from $109 | "Three subscription tiers starting at $109 per user, paid annually." Actual price depends on firm size. NeosAI is added when you are ready. |
| MyCase | Yes | $50 / $100 / $130 | Basic, Pro, Advanced, billed annually; $60, $120 and $150 month to month. MyCase Accounting is a separate $39 per user. Free trial, no credit card. |
| PracticePanther | Yes | $49 / $69 / $89 / $114 | Solo, Essential, Business, Business Pro, billed annually; $59, $79, $99 and $124 month to month. |
| Litify | No | Not published | The pricing page loads but carries no figure. Every path is a demo request. |
| SmartAdvocate | No | Not published | There is no pricing page at all; the URL returns a 404. |
The pattern worth noticing: of these seven, four publish something and three publish nothing, and the three that publish nothing are the ones sold hardest to high volume plaintiff firms. Transparency in this category tracks firm size, not product quality. If your shortlist is wider than personal injury, our legal case management software comparison covers the general practice platforms on the same basis.
A distinction the review sites miss
The free trial exists, but not for the thing you are buying
Filevine now advertises a free trial prominently, and it is easy to read that as a trial of the case management platform. It is not. Filevine's own FAQ answers the question this way: yes, there is a free trial of LOIS Explore, a free tier of LOIS that lets you experience AI-powered legal research and drafting before committing to a subscription, with no credit card required.
What you can try free
LOIS Explore
Upload documents and ask questions of your files, draft with AI where every result is cited to source, and use legal research with the opinion reader. Filevine notes it does not require a Filevine case connection: you just sign up and start.
What you cannot
Filevine Case Management
Filevine states plainly that the LOIS Explore free trial does not provide access to Filevine Case Management, so the complementary features are not accessible. Evaluating matter management still means a demo and a quote.
This matters when you are comparing shortlists, because MyCase and PracticePanther both let you into the actual case management product on a self serve trial with no card. If hands on time with the software before signing is important to your firm, that is a real difference between vendors, and it is separate from price.
How to make a custom quote comparable
Five things to get in writing before you sign
A quote based vendor is not a problem as long as the quote is specific. The trouble starts when it arrives as one blended monthly figure, because a blended figure cannot be compared to a rate card and cannot be defended at renewal. Ask for these five, in the quote document itself.
01
The seat definition
Not just the rate, but who counts. Does a part time intake clerk, a paralegal who only reads files, or a contract medical records reviewer need a full paid seat? Seat definition moves the bill more than the rate does.
02
Every module as its own line
Matters, Intake, Depositions, Signatures, Periscope, Timely, client portal, DataBridge, integrations and the LOIS AI layer. If a module is being given away for year one, get that written down with its list price next to it.
03
Implementation, scoped and priced
Filevine points onboarding at Certified Implementation Partners. Get the statement of work, the fixed fee or hourly rate, who performs it, and what happens if the build runs over.
04
Term and renewal uplift
A discounted first year with an uncapped renewal is the most common way a custom quote gets expensive. Ask for a stated cap, in percent, in the contract, and ask what happens to seats you drop mid term.
05
Your data on the way out
DataBridge being a priced extension makes this worth pinning down. What format is a full export, does it include documents and notes, how long do you have, and is there a fee?
The benchmark
Bring a printed rate card
CasePeer at $79, $119 and $149 is the closest published comparison for a personal injury firm. Saying "here is what the same seat costs in public" changes a custom quote conversation faster than anything else you can do.
Answered first, then explained
Filevine pricing questions buyers actually ask
How much does Filevine cost?
Filevine does not publish a price. Its own pricing page says every package is custom built for your team, and its pricing FAQ says the sales team tailors a plan to each organization. What you pay depends on seat count, which of the four packages you take, which extensions you add, and the contract term, so the only real number is the one in your quote.
Does Filevine publish its pricing?
No. Filevine.com/pricing lists the packages and the features inside them but carries no dollar figure anywhere on the page. The heading reads that all packages are custom built for your team's needs, and every call to action on the page is a demo booking rather than a checkout. Treat any third party number as an estimate, not a rate card.
Does Filevine offer a free trial?
Yes, but only of the AI layer, not of case management. Filevine offers a free trial of LOIS Explore, its free AI research and drafting tier, with no credit card required. Filevine states directly that LOIS Explore does not provide access to Filevine Case Management, so you cannot trial the matter management product this way.
Is Filevine priced per user or per case?
Filevine markets seat based packages rather than per case pricing, and its pricing page is organized around packages and extensions, not case volume. Because nothing is published, confirm the billing unit in writing. Ask whether every staff member who touches a file needs a paid seat, and whether read only or intake only users are billed at a lower rate.
What is included in the Filevine Matters package?
Four things: matter management with task tracking, contacts, deadlines and calendars; document management with search and secure sharing; document assembly with one click generation and automated workflows; and payments with time tracking, invoicing and online payments. Analytics, deadline management, the client portal and data access are extensions on top of it.
What does Filevine charge extra for?
Filevine separates its platform into four packages and then lists further extensions inside them. Periscope analytics, Timely deadline management, the client portal, DataBridge data access and integrations sit outside the base Matters package, and Intake, Depositions and Signatures are separate packages. Each line is a separate negotiation on your quote.
Is Filevine cheaper than CasePeer?
There is no honest way to say, because only one of the two publishes a price. CasePeer publishes $79, $119 and $149 per user per month for Basic, Pro and Advanced. Filevine publishes nothing. Use the CasePeer rate card as the benchmark you take into the Filevine call, and ask Filevine to price against it line for line.
Does Filevine charge an implementation fee?
Filevine routes onboarding through what it calls Certified Implementation Partners, an ecosystem of third party firms that handle the build and configuration. That is a strong signal implementation is scoped and priced separately from the subscription. Ask for the implementation statement of work and its cost in the same document as the software quote.
Why is Filevine pricing not public?
Because the product is modular and sold through a sales process. With four packages, five Matters extensions and a separate AI layer, there is no single number that describes a deployment, and quote based selling lets the vendor price by firm size and case volume. It also means two firms of the same size can pay very different amounts.
What should I ask for in a Filevine quote?
Get five things in writing: the per seat rate and exactly who counts as a seat, every package and extension listed as its own line item, the implementation cost and who performs it, the contract term with the renewal uplift cap, and what happens to your data if you leave. A quote missing any of those is not comparable to a published rate card.
The platform is only half the bill. The other half is the work it still leaves you.
Whichever quote you sign, somebody still drafts the demand letter, re-calendars the file when a hearing moves, and pulls the chronology together. Caseagent does that work inside the case: it drafts from the record, recalculates every dependent deadline when a date changes, and keeps the citation trail attached.
