Tabs3 Pricing, $89 Cloud and $69 OnSite per User

Every figure below was read on tabs3.com (the pricing page, the free trial pages, the Terms of Service effective 1 October 2024 and the on premise license agreement) and in Wayback Machine captures of the Tabs3 pricing pages from 2019 to 2026. Competitor prices come from each vendor's own pricing page.

How much does Tabs3 cost?

Tabs3 prints two starting prices and a list of add-ons. Both core subscriptions say "volume discounts may apply", and Tabs3 asks larger firms to contact it for custom pricing, so the rate on your quote can be lower than the list. What the list does tell you is the shape of the bill: a per user base, a per user practice management module on top, and flat monthly add-ons for marketing and signatures.

The pricing page does not split monthly from annual billing for the core plans, and it lists no setup, conversion or implementation fee. The training page marks some sessions as a fee-based service without a price. Ask for both on the quote, especially if you are converting years of billing history.

Who counts as a Tabs3 user?

More people than you might think. The footnote on the pricing page reads: "A user refers to any person who will need to track time and/or work in the software." So a paralegal who only enters time, and a bookkeeper who only runs trust reconciliations, each cost a full seat. Older Tabs3 pages priced Billing per timekeeper, and the OnSite plan was still "$40 per timekeeper monthly" in a March 2026 capture. By April 2026 the same plan read "$69 per user", which changed both the rate and who is counted.

That wording matters more for Tabs3 than for most rivals, because Tabs3 is sold to firms with a separate accounting person. Count everyone who opens the software before you multiply.

How Tabs3 pricing has changed

Tabs3 went from no public price to a module price list to the bundles it sells now. The archive shows the Cloud rate has held since at least late 2023, while the OnSite rate jumped this spring.

That is why the third party figures disagree. Lawyerist has the current $89, and $124 with PracticeMaster. Software Advice shows the $89 Cloud rate next to a $177 figure that was the old month to month CRM price. At least two directories still quote OnSite at $40, a price that has not been on the Tabs3 page since March 2026.

Can I cancel Tabs3 and get a refund?

You can stop, but you will not get money back. For Tabs3 Cloud, clause 2.1 of the Terms of Service lets you terminate by ending your use, "provided all fees paid or owed are non-cancellable and non-refundable". Clause 4.3 spells out the annual case: cancel a few months into a prepaid year and Tabs3 does not refund the rest. Clause 4.1 makes annual fees due in full on the day you activate, and adds that Tabs3 "may modify subscription fees or impose additional fees at any time".

Data is the second risk. Clause 2.2 says that on termination Tabs3 may delete your data, and clause 5.3 tells you to "plan ahead" and back it up before the paid term ends, because restores are not guaranteed and may cost extra. The OnSite license agreement is gentler on access: after support ends you can still view your data but not change it, and it asks for cancellation at least 10 business days before a monthly fee or 30 business days before an annual fee.

Is Tabs3 cheaper than CosmoLex or Rocket Matter?

Not at list price for billing plus practice management. Five users on Tabs3 Cloud with PracticeMaster come to $620 a month, or $7,440 a year. The same five on OnSite with PracticeMaster are $505 a month, $6,060 a year, before the server, backups and the IT time to keep them. Tabs3 wins where volume discounts land, and on accounting depth: Tabs3 Financials includes trust and firm accounting in the base price, which some rivals keep on their top tier.

The fair comparison is feature for feature. If you need a real general ledger and payables inside the billing system, set Tabs3 against CosmoLex Pro and Rocket Matter Elite, not their entry plans, and the gap closes. Tabs3 Cloud or OnSite, which costs less?

OnSite is $20 per user cheaper on the base plan and $3 cheaper on PracticeMaster, so a five user firm saves $1,380 a year at list. That saving has to pay for the server, its backups, its operating system licenses and the person who restores it when it fails, and it gives up Tabs3Pay from the bundle. Firms already running a server for other software often find OnSite cheaper. Firms that would buy a server for Tabs3 alone rarely do. OnSite is also Windows only: Tabs3 tests its software only on Windows and Windows Server, so an office on Macs is choosing Cloud, as our legal software for Mac survey found.

What the Tabs3 add-ons are worth

The add-ons are where a Tabs3 bill grows fastest. The CRM at $147 a month is priced for three PracticeMaster users, so a firm with one intake person pays the same as one with three. The website is $159 a month after a $599 setup, $1,908 a year for a site you do not own the platform of. The ads service starts at $899 a month per ad and includes $450 of ad spend, so roughly half the fee is management. A firm that wants to keep that margin can run its own paid search campaigns with an AI media buyer and put the full budget into clicks.

Tabs3Pay deserves one question before you sign: the processing rate. The pricing page promises competitive rates and surcharging without a number, and fees are withdrawn from your account at the end of the month rather than netted from each payment. Get the card and ACH rates in writing, and confirm that fees never touch the trust account.

Is Tabs3 priced per user?

Yes. Tabs3 defines a user as any person who will need to track time or work in the software, so a paralegal who only records time counts as a full user. Every Tabs3 figure on its pricing page is per user per month, and the CRM add-on is priced per firm for up to 3 PracticeMaster users.

How much is PracticeMaster?

PracticeMaster costs $35 per user per month on top of a Tabs3 Cloud subscription, or $32 per user per month on top of the OnSite subscription. It adds matter management, document management and automation, calendars and conflict checking. With PracticeMaster, Tabs3 Cloud comes to $124 per user per month before add-ons.

Does Tabs3 have a free trial?

Yes. After you fill in the trial form, Tabs3 calls within one business day and then emails 10 days of access to Tabs3 Cloud. An OnSite trial of Tabs3 Billing, Financials and PracticeMaster is also offered, with no length stated. Ten days is short, so load one real month of time entries and run a billing cycle in it.

Can Tabs3 raise its prices?

Yes. Clause 4.1 of the Tabs3 Terms of Service says Tabs3 may modify subscription fees or impose additional fees at any time. The OnSite starting price moved from $40 per timekeeper in March 2026 to $69 per user in April 2026, so ask for the rate and any renewal cap in writing before you commit to a year.
