LEAP Legal Software Pricing, Cost and Contract Terms for US Law Firms
LEAP Legal Software does not publish a US price. Its pricing page says "One Platform. One Price." and asks you to request a quote, and LEAP bills per user, per month. What LEAP does publish is its General Terms, and those decide most of what the software really costs you: a 36 month term unless your Order Form says otherwise, automatic renewal, no reduction in users during a term, and a paid single user license while you pull your data out.
Enter the numbers from your LEAP quote to see the full commitment, what empty seats would cost if the team shrinks, and when your notice is due.

What the Order Form commits you to
The $149 default is an unsourced directory figure, not a LEAP price. 36 months is the term the General Terms apply when the Order Form names none. Replace both with your quote.

LEAP cost is a quoted monthly rate per user, locked for a term you should read twice
LEAP is practice management software for small law firms: matters, a large library of automated forms, automatic timekeeping, billing, trust accounting and a set of AI tools, sold in the US by LEAP Legal Software Inc. from Jersey City, New Jersey. There is no plan ladder. LEAP sells one bundle, prices it per user per month, and may add a one-time implementation fee for installation, data migration and onboarding.
The contract is where LEAP differs from the platforms that print a price. MyCase, for example, publishes $50, $100 and $130 per user per month and says no long-term contract is required. A LEAP Order Form that is silent on the term runs 36 months, renews by itself for 12 more, cannot drop users mid-term and can only be ended at a term end on 30 days written notice.

What LEAP itself says about price
leap.us/pricing redirects to the US pricing page on leaplegalsoftware.com. It carries no dollar figure and no plan names. The Wayback Machine holds a single capture of it, from 22 April 2026, which shows the same layout and no price either, so there is no archived LEAP US rate to point to.
| What the page says | What it means for your budget |
|---|---|
| "One Platform. One Price. Incredible Value." | No tiers to compare. Every user gets the same bundle, so the only price variable is the rate per user you negotiate. |
| "A one-time implementation fee may apply to cover software installation, data migration, and onboarding support." | Budget for a setup line. The General Terms call it Upfront Amounts and include Data Transition and training in it. |
| Included: "A library of automated forms & templates; Time-saving legal AI tools; Automatic timekeeping; Unlimited document storage; Remote and mobile app access" | Forms, AI, time capture and storage are inside the per user rate, not add-ons. |
| "Some third-party integrations used with LEAP may require a separate subscription." | Accounting stays outside. LEAP exports journals to QuickBooks Online and Xero and runs trust accounting, but has no general ledger of its own. |
| UK pricing page: LEAP uses a "per-user, per-month model" | The same structure applies in the US Terms, which bill a Monthly Amount for the number of Permitted Users. |
Every figure on the first page of results, and its source
Where the $149 per user LEAP price comes from
One number circulates. It starts on one directory, gets repeated by a blog that says LEAP does not confirm it, and none of the listings that actually talk to vendors carry it. Treat $149 as a placeholder for the checker, never as a quote.
| Source | What it says | Sourced? |
|---|---|---|
| Software Finder | "LEAP price plans starts from $149/user/month" | No source given |
| A legal bookkeeping blog | Third party listings "estimate around $149 per user, per month", and LEAP "does not confirm this figure" | Circular, repeats the directory |
| Capterra | "Contact vendor for pricing" | Accurate |
| Software Advice | Pricing available upon request; the $49 on the page belongs to a competitor listing | Accurate |
| TrustRadius | No pricing plans listed; LEAP does not publicly share pricing | Accurate |
| Lawyerist review, January 2025 | LEAP does not publish pricing, contact the company for a demo | Accurate |
General Terms of 1 August 2026, with the United States schedule
The LEAP General Terms clauses that carry a price
LEAP publishes one set of General Terms for every country and a schedule that amends them per territory. The United States schedule changes the late payment clause, adds a pre-installation cancellation right and removes the money back guarantee. It leaves the term, renewal and seat clauses as written, so the defaults below apply to a US firm.
| Clause | What it says | Cost impact |
|---|---|---|
| Initial Term | The term in the Order Form, "or if a term is not specified in the Order Form, 36 months" | Three years of fees is the default commitment |
| 3.3 and Renewal Term | The agreement "will automatically renew", for 12 months if the Order Form names no length | Miss the notice date and you owe another year |
| 6.7 | "the number of Permitted Users may not be reduced during the then current Initial Term or Renewal Term" | A departing lawyer keeps costing you until the term ends |
| 6.6 | Extra users are bought "at the then standard cost" and co-termed to the current term | A new hire may not get your negotiated rate |
| 11.5 and 11.6 | LEAP may increase fees "for or during a Renewal Term" with reasonable advance written notice; you may terminate within 30 days of the change | No renewal cap unless you negotiate one |
| 11.10 | Any discount is given "in consideration for Your commitment to use the LEAP Software for the Initial Term" | A discount is bought with the length of the term |
| 11.8, US schedule | "$25 for each failed payment", overdue amounts at 18 percent a year | Keep the ACH account funded |
| 14, US schedule | "A Money-Back Guarantee is not offered in this Territory." | Evaluate before signing, not after |
| 19.1 | Termination for convenience only "with effect at the end of the Initial Term or Renewal Term" on "at least 30 days' written notice" | No mid-term exit |
| 19.4, US schedule | Cancel before installation on 7 days notice, paying the Cancellation Cost for work done "(including any Data Transition and training)" | Backing out early still costs the setup work |
| 20.3 and 20.4 | "It is Your responsibility to extract Your Client Data"; a Historical Use License for one user at your single user monthly amount until LEAP acknowledges your Completion Notice | Leaving costs one seat a month for as long as the export takes |
The term, seat and exit clauses, worked through
What a default LEAP Order Form commits a five lawyer firm to
The monthly rate is the number the sales call is about. The number that matters is the rate times the users times the months you cannot leave. On a 36 month term with no seat reductions, a small change in headcount turns into a large line on the contract, because every seat you signed for stays billable until the term ends.
The exit is also priced. Clause 20.3 puts the export on you and keeps one seat billing while you do it. A firm that plans the migration before the notice date pays for a month or two of that license. A firm that starts after the term ends pays for however long the export takes.
None of this makes LEAP a bad buy. For a firm that is sure of its size and wants the forms library, three years at a negotiated discount can be fair value. It makes the term the first thing to negotiate, ahead of the rate.
Worked example with placeholder numbers
- 5 users at $149 a month on a 36 month term: $26,820 committed, before any implementation fee.
- After year one the team is 3 people. Clause 6.7 keeps 2 extra seats for the remaining 24 months: $7,152 for seats nobody uses.
- Term starts 1 October 2026 and ends 30 September 2029. Written notice is due by 31 August 2029, or the agreement renews for 12 months.
- Two months to export your data under the Historical Use License at the single user rate: $298.
$149 is a placeholder, not a LEAP price. This is our reading of the General Terms; confirm it against your own Order Form before relying on it.

LEAP vs the practice management platforms that publish a price
Without a LEAP rate card, the fair comparison is your written quote against vendors that print theirs. The last column matters as much as the price, because the contract length changes the real cost more than a $10 difference in the rate.
| Platform | Published price | Accounting | Contract |
|---|---|---|---|
| LEAP | Quote only, per user per month, one bundle, possible implementation fee | Trust accounting; journals export to QuickBooks Online or Xero | 36 months if the Order Form is silent, auto renewal, no seat cuts, no money back guarantee |
| MyCase | $50 / $100 / $130 per user a month billed yearly, $60 / $120 / $150 monthly | MyCase Accounting add-on, $39 per user a month | "No long-term contract or setup fee is required" |
| PracticePanther | $49 / $69 / $89 / $114 per user a month billed yearly, $59 / $79 / $99 / $124 monthly | Full accounting on Business Pro; QuickBooks sync on every plan | Monthly or annual terms, 5 days notice before a term ends |
| Clio | Plans from $49 per user a month (Starter, Core, Signature, Elite) | Accounting included on every plan | Cancel any time; data exportable up to 90 days after cancelling |
| Smokeball | Quote only, four plans (Bill, Boost, Grow, Prosper) | Trust accounting; QuickBooks and Xero integrations | Price depends on users, plan and contract term |
| CaseAgent | Flat per firm: Solo $149, Firm $399 for up to 5 users, Practice $899 for up to 15 a month; yearly $119 / $319 / $719 a month | None; keeps your current billing and books | Monthly or yearly, no setup fee, no export fee |
CaseAgent is not a like for like replacement for LEAP's forms and billing. Drawn from what the General Terms leave to the Order Form
Six things to get on the LEAP Order Form before you sign
Many US firms meet LEAP because they run PCLaw or Time Matters. Both products sit in a joint venture between LexisNexis and LEAP that closed in 2019, and the venture's stated purpose includes a migration path to LEAP's cloud platform. That makes the move look like a formality. It is still a new contract, and our guide to cloud legal software for firms leaving PCLaw and Time Matters prices the alternatives.
01
A written initial term
If the Order Form names no term, you have signed for 36 months. Ask for 12, and see what the rate becomes before you trade it for a discount.
02
A seat reduction right
Clause 6.7 blocks reductions during a term. Ask for the right to drop a set number of users at each anniversary.
03
A renewal price cap
Clause 11.5 lets LEAP raise fees at renewal. A fixed percentage cap, in writing, turns that into a number you can budget.
04
The rate for added users
Clause 6.6 prices new users at the then standard cost. Get your negotiated rate extended to every user added in the term.
05
Every upfront amount
Data Transition, installation and training, each with a number, since clause 19.4 bills that work even if you cancel before go-live.
06
An export in a standard format
Clause 20.3 makes extraction your job. Ask for a full export of matters, contacts, documents and ledgers delivered by LEAP at term end, at a fixed fee.

LEAP legal software pricing questions buyers ask
How much does LEAP legal software cost?
LEAP does not publish a US price. Its pricing page says One Platform. One Price. and sends you to a request pricing form, and LEAP describes the model as per user, per month. The $149 per user per month on software directories traces to one listing that cites no source. Your real cost is the monthly amount and the upfront amounts on your Order Form.
Is LEAP priced per user?
Yes. The LEAP General Terms bill a Monthly Amount for the number of Permitted Users on your Order Form, and LEAP describes its model as per user, per month. Clause 6.7 says the number of users cannot be reduced during the current term, so the seat count you sign for is the seat count you pay for until the term ends.
How long is a LEAP contract?
Whatever your Order Form says, and 36 months if it says nothing. The LEAP General Terms define the Initial Term as the term in the Order Form or, if none is specified, 36 months. After that the agreement renews automatically for Renewal Terms of 12 months unless the Order Form sets a different length.
Can I cancel LEAP at any time?
No. Clause 19.1 lets either party end the agreement only with effect at the end of the Initial Term or a Renewal Term, with at least 30 days written notice. The US schedule states that no money back guarantee is offered, and a prorated refund applies only after a fee increase you reject or a material breach by LEAP.
Does LEAP charge a setup fee?
It can. The LEAP pricing page says a one-time implementation fee may apply to cover software installation, data migration and onboarding support. The General Terms call these Upfront Amounts, which may include Data Transition, installation and training. If you cancel before installation, clause 19.4 makes you pay for the work already done.
Can LEAP raise its price?
Yes, at renewal. Clause 11.5 lets LEAP increase fees for or during a Renewal Term with reasonable advance written notice. Clause 11.6 lets you terminate within 30 days of the change taking effect if you object, and that is one of the two cases where a prorated refund of prepaid fees applies. Ask for a renewal cap on the Order Form.
What happens to my data if I leave LEAP?
Extracting it is your job. Clause 20.3 says it is your responsibility to extract your client data, and on expiry you automatically enter a Historical Use License charged at your then current single user monthly amount. It gives one user access to pull data out and runs until LEAP acknowledges your written Completion Notice.
Are the LEAP AI tools extra?
LEAP says no. Its legal AI page answers that its AI tools, including the LawY integration, are included with a LEAP subscription at no extra cost, naming Generator, Matter AI and LawY. The same page also carries an included for select matter types note, so confirm on the Order Form that the matter types your firm handles are covered.
Is LEAP cheaper than Clio or MyCase?
Only a quote can say, but the contract shapes differ more than the prices. MyCase publishes $50, $100 and $130 per user per month billed yearly with no long-term contract, and Clio publishes plans from $49. LEAP publishes no figure and defaults to 36 months with no seat reductions. Compare total committed spend, not the monthly rate.
Is LEAP the replacement for PCLaw and Time Matters?
It is the migration path LEAP offers. PCLaw and Time Matters are run by a joint venture between LexisNexis and LEAP that closed in 2019, and its stated purpose includes a path to the LEAP cloud platform. That makes LEAP the shortest move for many PCLaw firms, but not the only one, so price at least one alternative.
The reading, drafting and deadlines on every matter, at one flat price for the firm
CaseAgent puts an AI agent inside each matter: it reads what comes in, drafts the letters, pleadings and discovery responses from the file, builds the chronology with citations back to the page and keeps court deadlines current when a date moves. Plans are flat per firm, Solo $149 a month, Firm $399 for up to 5 users and Practice $899 for up to 15, billed monthly or yearly, with no setup fee, no multi-year term and no export fee.
